The alarm echoes through the bedroom as it rips through my ears. 

My head is aching and I have the stale taste of last nights beer on my breath.

The sun gleams through the window as I wipe the sleep from my eyes. 

Why does Monday seem to come earlier every week? 5 more minutes while I fight my self to get out of bed. 

Spilt coffee, heavy traffic and being late for the Monday morning meeting is a bitter recipe to start my week. 

Don’t you wish we could have Do-Overs or Resets? It would be nice to delete certain parts or days out of our life. Hell, the fast forward button would be nice too! 

How do we take control and get back our day? Carry around a flask with a heavy drink? Not quite, it might cure the hangover but it won’t fix the problem. 

One of my old Commanding Officers used to tell me “Attitude is Everything”. I believe that 100%! 

We can’t predict the future and we can’t go back in time, but what we can control is our attitude. It all starts when we hear that annoying alarm clock in the morning or get woken up by a 4 year old twenty minutes before were supposed to get up. 

We decide if we want to have a good day or a bad day. How we choose to handle good news or bad news is our decision and will determine how bad we let our day stink. 

Some people live for stress and drama. Not this guy, drama free is what’s for me!

I used to be a very grumpy person, I was always irritated and any little thing would piss me off. Drama followed me around like a fly in a porta john.  

Do you remember when people used to say ” your attitude stinks?” Well, my attitude used to stink worse than my underwear after a 6 month deployment! 

Who wants to hang around someone with a bad attitude? Maybe the guy that digs in trash cans for a living. 

Once I decided to change my attitude and allowed myself to look at things in a positive light is when I felt the change. I stopped letting things I could not change bother me. It was just like changing my underwear. It felt fresh, clean and it was a new me. 

I realized that life is too short to sweat the small stuff. I want to live a life filled with fun, love and happiness. Who doesn’t want that? 

It’s not an easy transition but if you’re determined, have a little discipline and focus on a positive attitude you will be on your way to a much more tolerable life. 

Change your undies every once in awhile, put on deodorant and don’t let your attitude stink!
